Welcome to Hazel Wand Theatre School! Hazel Wand is one of Northern Ireland's longest established stage schools. Our studio doors opened on Bridge Street, Omagh in 1993 and since that time thousands of students have attended weekly lessons to develop in all aspects of the performing arts.
The team at Hazel Wand are all trained professionals in theatre education or theatrical practice. We have specialists in the three fields of performing arts - Drama, Music and Dance. Every member of the team brings something unique and each member of staff has been involved in Hazel Wand for many years. All staff members started out as students to Hazel Wand founder Sister Aengus Fitzpatrick MBE. We carry forward her cross-community ethos of 'performing together' as we continue in her memory.
We offer a massive variety of classes in the Hazel Wand studio. Explore this site to find out more about who we are, what we do and what we have available to offer you or your child!
Students will develop as singers in ensembles, small groups and as soloists. Small group and individual tuition is available for piano and voice from experienced and qualified tutors. Students can prepare to take a classical grade in piano and singing, prepare to take a musical theatre exam or simply develop their techniques and talents in these individually tailored lessons.
Students who are entering year 11 or year 13 are able to complete AQA GCSE or A Level Drama at Hazel Wand. These courses are completed in one academic year and taught by PGCE qualified teachers. These courses are a challenging mix of performance, devising, coursework, live theatre visits and a written paper based on the syudy of set plays.
Students thrive in their studies in this more casual studio setting and achieve very highly in their qualifications.
NEA Exams Each year students are offered the opportunity to complete NEA Speech & Drama, Acting and Musical Theatre exams in Hazel Wand.
Students prepare with experienced and qualified teachers who teach exam material on a one-to-one basis to ensure each student gets the training they need to achieve their best. Exams range from initials grades up to diploma level and teacher diploma level.
